Airborne High Frequency Radio Modernization

The ARC-190 is an analog High Frequency (HF) radio installed on select Air Force mobility and bomber aircraft and on some Navy and Marine Corps aircraft.  The Air Force is seeking to prototype a digital, open-systems, software-defined radio, capable of meeting current ARC-190 communications requirements, as well as future assured communication capabilities.  This approach will enable upgrades for assured operations in satellite-denied and HF-stressed environments.  The Modernized Radio is desired to fit into the same space (foot-print) as the ARC-190’s1341 R/T with a goal to include all associated electronics into one Line Replaceable Unit (LRU).
