The Air Force must ensure Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) resilience in response to evolving threats. To maintain PNT superiority, the Air Force established the United States Air Force PNT Strategic Plan (June 2019), outlining a comprehensive strategy focused on developing robust and resilient PNT systems.

The R-EGI program is designed to counter these emerging threats while addressing both new warfighter requirements and legacy Embedded GPS/Inertial Navigation System (EGI) platform needs. Utilizing a rapid prototyping approach, the program will develop Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) with built-in configurability, enabling adaptability to evolving mission demands.
