Generator Inverter (GINV) Line Replaceable Unit (LRU)
April 30, 2025
description
The Government is seeking a replacement of the Generator Inverter (GINV) for the M109A7 Paladin and M992A3 Carrier Ammunition Tracked (CAT). The GINV is over 15 years old and is starting to have obsolescence, producibility and maintainability issues. The purpose of the GINV is to actively rectify 3-phase Alternating Current (AC) power from a generator and supply a maximum of 70 kW of 610 VDC power. That 610 VDC power is used to operate the high voltage gun drive and rammer systems on the vehicle. Many of the current components within the GINV are expected to become obsolete within the next 6 years, therefore a replacement is needed in order to avoid a break in production and to update the GINV with current technology. The Government requires the development of a new subsystem incorporating current electrical technology to improve the producibility and maintainability of the GINV. The Government Performance Specification requires the development of a new field reprogramming capability and enhanced diagnostics capabilities, which is missing today.
