NorthStar Prototype

Assured Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (APNT) directly enables positioning of Army forces, navigation across the operational environment, communication networks, situational awareness applications, protection, surveillance, targeting, and engagement systems which contribute to achieving overmatch in Army Multi Domain Operations. NorthStar is a mounted APNT capability that addresses the need for affordable APNT solutions fielded throughout Army vehicles.  NorthStar leverages a scalable and modular approach to achieving its affordability goals. NorthStar enables the Army to conduct operations and execute the full range of warfighter functions in Global Positioning System (GPS) contested environments. 

Lifecycle costs associated with meeting the most stringent requirements prevent widespread adoption across the Army’s vehicle fleets. The Government is seeking an affordable, modular, and upgradeable mounted APNT solution that overcomes specific threat levels while minimizing lifecycle costs as a tradeoff for capability at each capability tier.
