Paladin Electric Servo Amplifier (PESA) Subsystem

The current PESA for the M109A7 is over 25 years old and has three (3) Line Replacement Units (LRUs) with obsolescence, producibility and maintainability issues. The LRUs are outdated and extremely hard to manufacture. The Government requires the development of a new subsystem incorporating current electrical technology to improve the producibility and maintainability of the LRUs. The solution shall satisfy the performance specification, demonstrate the engineered design is suitable to replace the current system, and successfully enable the continued operation of the vehicle with no degradation to current capabilities. In addition, the prototype solution should show that the new design is producible (with modern components), has improved diagnostics capability, is maintainable thru in vehicle reprogramming, and meets or exceeds the reliability of the current system.
